Rapide Lite, The Most Affordable Commercial Quality 3D Printer

LIGHTNING RELEASES (9/15/2014) – An team of designers and engineers from Australia has developed what they describe as “the worlds most affordable commercial quality 3D printer that could redefine how 3D printers shape the future.”??

“When designing Rapide Lite we looked at current 3D printers and what we found was a big gap in the market between the low-end hobbyist 3D printers and commercial quality 3D printers,” says Ethan Hunt, Rapide 3D CEO.

There seems to be a race to the bottom mentality in the market where people believe they need to be offering machines for $99.   We simply do not see the benefit in this type of machine as the output is extremely low quality and in reality impractical other than for making toys.  What we believe the market needs are high quality, functional 3D printers that are affordable and enable the end user to produce prototypes rapidly, Hunt said.

At Rapide 3D we have developed a unique X Wing Axis that significantly increases the precision and resolution of our 3D printers.  Built from aircraft grade 5026 aluminum, laser cut for accuracy and fit with all other structural components CNC milled aluminum rather than molded or printed plastic like many 3D Printers further defines the stability and strength of the machine, George Adams, said.??What makes Rapide 3D stand out in the crowd is we have built our own end to end factory in Shenzhen, China which will allow us to control the quality and cost of production.   This significantly improves the production time and eliviates the issues that many producers of 3D Printers face when relying on external suppliers for production.

Rapide Lite will come in 3 sizes, 200, 350 and 500mm3 with prices starting as low as $499 for our Indiegogo contributors.

Rapide Lite 200 will print layers as thin as 50 microns (0.002 inches) with features as small as 100 microns (0.004 inches) in a build volume of 200 x 200 x 200mm.

Rapide Lite 350 will print layers as thin as 50 microns (0.002 inches) with features as small as 100 microns (0.004 inches) in a build volume of 350 x 350 x 350mm.

Rapide Lite 500 will print layers as thin as 50 microns (0.002 inches) with features as small as 100 microns (0.004 inches) in a build volume of 500 x 500 x 500mm.?

The retail price of Rapide Lite 200 with a single extruder will be US$999. However, early supporters who register prior to the launch of our Indiegogo campaign will have the opportunity to receive significant discounts with the first 50 available for $399.   The introduction of Rapide Lite will move the bench mark for affordable quality 3D Printers that are able to do more than just make lego blocks and cookie cutters, Hunt, said

The first full-production shipment is set to release in November 2014 to early contributors making Rapide Lite a must have on this years Christmas wish list. To register for updates on Rapide Lite’s launch go to www.rapide-3d.com .

Matter and Form First Affordable Crowd Funded 3D Scanner Ready to Ship

mfMore big 3D printing news out of Canada as Matter and Form roll out their new high resolution 3D scanner. What makes this different? It’s the first crowd-funded scanner of its type. It is shipped fully assembled and ready to scan in color at a level on par with some of the most expensive and complex 3D scanners on the market. Best of all, it’s only $579 making it a great deal more affordable than its competitors.

The scanner, called the Matter and Form 3D Scanner, is the first product of Matter and Form Studios, introducing them to the scene in a big way. As a result of their innovative thinking and the success of their Indiegogo campaign, the team at Matter and Form are getting attention from some heavy hitters. Sandstone Asset Management, Inc. in conjunction with the MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund have given them a $2 million dollar fund injection which they hope to use for staff, marketing, and research and development.

While those who designed the Matter and Form scanner had envisioned designers as its target market, through their Indiegogo campaign, they found a much wider set of supporters ranging from gamers to teachers to hobbyists. Drew Cox, a designer and programmer as well as CEO and Founder of Matter and Form described the company’s situation:

matter1“Bringing a new product to market is an arduous and complex process, and we’ve been extremely fortunate to have backers who have encouraged us to take our time and get it right. That support has enabled us to reach the point where we are very proud of the product we’re shipping. The investment is just as important but in a different way. It will let us create products that will take people as far as their imaginations will let them. We couldn’t ask for better partners than Sandstone and IAF.”

3D printing is becoming more and more a part of everyday life; however, one thing that has stood in the way of its increased market expansion is the fact that many people didn’t have meaningful things that they needed to print. It takes a lot of knowledge to be able to create the files from scratch and, of course, it takes a designer to design something. With an affordable 3D scanner, anyone can scan in objects, either those that have particular sentimental value to them, or maybe things that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to purchase.

Sharon Watkins, CEO of Sandstone Asset Management recognized this potential:

“Our investment in Matter and Form, Inc. is an endorsement of its people and ideas. It is a fusion of an attractive investment opportunity and supporting the disruptive effects of putting powerful technologies within reach of ever-wider user bases. Sandstone is proud to support Matter and Form, Inc.’s future growth and its leadership in disruptive technologies.”

Those who backed the project through Indiegogo will get the first scanners to leave the factory this week. Then, by the end of August, people from around the world will be able to get their hands on this machine and start scanning.  Were you one of the Indiegogo backers?  Are you considering purchasing the Matter and Form scanner?  Let’s hear your thoughts on the device in the Matter and Form forum thread on 3DPB.com. 3D Desktop Printer DIY Household or School type machine, the first ready-to-use 3D printer at an affordable price – not a kit! ABS plastic Printing @MyRiwell

No return, be a serious buyer before to purchase.

Made in China as most of the US 3D printers. What do you buy now is not made in China?

Print Size: 22.5*14.5*15.9CM, Dimension: about 58.5*52.5*48.0CM

Layer thickness:0.1-0.4mm (u can set up)

Nozzle diameter/ aperture:0.4mm

One Nozzle

Material: ABS plastic Weight: about 13KG
Speed: Max 80mm/s (u can adjust), Nozzle spray speed: 24mm/hour

Optional Power: AC 220 V/ AC 110V

Print from SD card or via USB connection

Very easy to use. It will simply work, build volume comparable with the latest machines of the US, with a similar nozzle size for fine resolution printing, comes with an attractive enclosed build space, no covers or hoods need to purchase as an extra item again! Simple user interface and communicates via either SD Card or USB. Simplified windows produces reliable G-Code, and leaves plenty of room for sophisticated users to upgrade to other software platforms.

It takes 1.75 mm filament ABS plastic. The nozzle and bed temperatures can be easily controlled, and a simple load and unload filament system allows for a quick change and the use of a variety of filament types. ABS is the recommended filament, and with the heated build platform and enclosed temperature controlled build space this is much more effective than other printers without good temperature control. Unlike many 3D printers the nozzle moves around the print, so the build platform is not being shaken around adding to the adhesion problem of materials like ABS.

1. Printing accuracy and quality can NOT equals to the industrial-grade machines which price is even several hundred thousand dollars each.

2. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included. But we may report a little lower price on package for you.
